Care
How do I wash my embroidered clothing?
The short answer
Just follow the garment's own care label
Embroidery thread is made to take a knock: it's colourfast, strong, and holds up to normal washing. In practice, the garment itself usually wears out before the embroidery does. So you don't need to do anything special — with a few simple rules of thumb, the logo will stay fresh and crisp for years to come.
What's fine
- Washing at 40°C or below
- Wash inside out — gives the embroidery a little extra protection
- Spin at the speed stated on the label
- Air dry, or tumble dry on low if the label allows it
What to avoid
- Washing above 40°C, even if the label allows a higher temperature
- Ironing directly on the embroidery — iron on the reverse, or place a cloth over it
- Using bleach — affects the colours of the thread
- Dry cleaning without first checking the care label
Our two most important tips: don't wash above 40°C, and never iron directly on the embroidery. That way the logo stays crisp for the longest.
Why it lasts so long
The embroidery usually outlasts the fabric
The thread we use is fibre-strong and colourfast, so it loses colour or sheen far more slowly than most fabrics. For corporate clothing that's worn and washed daily, that's exactly why we recommend embroidery for pieces that need to last for years.
What about bath textiles and towels? These often go through the wash more often and at higher temperatures. Embroidery thread handles that just fine too — simply follow the care label of the bath textile itself.
